The FDAS was designed as a pre-test and a post-test instrument to be used with the Divorce/Relationship Recovery Seminar.  It was developed as part of Bruce Fisher's Doctoral dissertation in 1976 and was revised in 1978.  Its goal is to measure a person's adjustment to the ending of a love-relationship.  Participants enjoy taking the FDAS and find it to be a healing experience.  Six subset categories are measured in the FDAS and they include:  self-worth, disentanglement, anger, grief, social intimacy, and social self-worth.

What participants have said about the seminar:
"I have learned so much and grown in so many ways." - D.S.

"What I liked best about the seminar was the week to week structure, homework, reading and ability to openly share feelings. I found that my thoughts were normal and that I was not alone." - S.C.N.

"The seminar provided the tools, insights and supportive environment to help me recover from a failed marriage. It was an essential part of my emotional healing. Today, I am stronger than ever before and in a loving, healthy second marriage." - J.M.
